Mr. Mack Lee Preston Sr., 85, of Louisiana, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at his home near Louisiana
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Stan Henderson will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Louisiana.
Mack was born Nov. 14, 1928 in Montgomery City, the son of William McKinley Preston and Effie Lee Branham Preston.
He married Mary E. Motley on Jan. 26, 1948 in Bowling Green, and she preceded him in death June 14, 1999.
Mack is survived two sons, Roger Preston (Phyllis) of Bowling Green, and George Preston (Judy) of Nebo, Ill.; one daughter, Lona Chandler (David) of Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Leonard Preston (Martha) of Louisiana; three sisters, Bessie Mae Womble (Bob) of the state of Louisiana, Mary Lou Dempsey (Bobby) of Louisiana, and Patricia Ann Hugart (Charles) of Bowling Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Mack L. Preston Jr. and Alan W. Preston; four brothers, Pearl Edward Preston, Joseph M. Preston, Melvin Eugene Preston and Benjamin Lewis Preston; two sisters, Lorraine Lucille Stewart and Susan Viola Klohr; one granddaughter; and two grandsons.
Mack was a veteran serving with the United States Army in World War II.
He had been employed at Hercules Chemical Company in Louisiana for 14 years, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of the Cowboy Church in Bowling Green and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 370 in Louisiana.
Mack loved spending time with his family and was looking forward to the arrival of the latest grandchild. He was also an outdoorsman and loved to hunt, garden and watch his hunting dogs work.
Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Preston, Alan Preston, James Anderson, Josh Hill, Roger Preston, II and Jace Robinson. Active pallbearers are Tracy Robinson, Carrie Venetis, Billie Jennings, Amie Preston, Kelsi Preston and Delaynie Robinson.
