The Bowling Green Middle School celebrated Veteran’s Day, as they have for the last several years, with a program Monday. Local veterans and students displayed their appreciation through song and personal reflection.
Students were encouraged to invite a veteran to attend the program as their guest.
According to Superintendent Darin Powell, around 400 people were in attendance for the luncheon and program.
The school’s program began at 12:30 p.m., with a presentation and posting of the colors by Bowling Green VFW Post #5553, Pledge of Allegiance, and singing of the National Anthem by the middle school choir.
The choir also performed a compilation of Americana songs, interwoven with each force branch’s song. Directors asked that members of each branch stand as their song played.
