The girls of Pike County’s MO Tide 18U travelling softball team have proven they are not your typical high schoolers. Thursday afternoon, the team banded together to load their trailer and vehicles full of food, clothes, and other necessities. But this time, the stuff they were packing wasn’t their own – the team gathered donations from those at St. Clement Church, The Wedding Shop, Vandalia prison, Bowling Green Health Department, and other area softball teams for the relief efforts in Moore, Okla. MO Tide was heading to Oklahoma City for the OKC Challenge, a nation-wide softball tournament held last weeknd that welcomed more than 200 teams to the city. Each of the team’s 14 girls helped to load countless cases of bottled water, canned goods, personal care items, and clothing into a cargo trailer they would haul with them to Oklahoma.
