Mr. Easley’s BGHS American History class held a mock legislation Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the auditorium. The students were able to Skype with Senator Roy Blunt for about 30 minutes that morning. The elected Speaker of the House, Cameron Shinn, asked Senator Blunt several questions which had been submitted by the participating students. Students were required to submit a bill for discussion and vote in order to participate. The rest of the day was comprised of discussions, voting, and visitors. Three bills were approved and passed into law: misuse of EBT cards, lowering the age for conceal and carry permits, and drug testing for welfare recipients. Representative Jim Hansen joined the students for the majority of the day.
