The Northeast Correctional Center brought back its Christmas party for children of its workers on Friday, Dec. 1.
“We used to do Christmas parties in the past and we wanted to bring it back. The kids love it,” event coordinator Tiffani Painter said.
“It’s the first time for the DJ and costumes. We went all out this year,” Painter said later.
During the event, the children who were in attendance were able to meet Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. They also received a gift bag.
“We had 190 kids sign up,” Tiffani Painter said. “[The gift bags had] Legos, bubbles, miniature Barbies, coloring books, crayons, puzzles and lots of other stuff.”
The Grinch and Olaf from blockbuster film, “Frozen” were also in attendance to meet and play with the kids.
“We wanted to do something for the families,” Ricky Painter said.
Pizza from Pizza Hut was served along with cupcakes and drinks.
There were 75 pizzas ordered for the party along with 300 cupcakes.
Music for the event was provided by River City Entertainment. The Christmas Party was held at the Pike County Fairgrounds near Bowling Green.
