Pike County area’s Niemeyer Family Farms was recently awarded Environmental Certification by Validus for their commitment to environmental cropland stewardship.
“We’re very pleased to be receiving this recognition again this year,” said Steve Niemeyer, Niemeyer Family Farms. “This is our second year of recognition and we are excited about what the certification has provided us,” he stated.
The award recognizes a farmer’s commitment to caring for the land and implementing exceptional conservation practices while applying strong security measures throughout the farm.
The Environmental Certification program focuses on several key areas: water quality, soil quality, plants, wildlife and energy use.
“This third-party certification is very proactive and detailed,” said Earl Dotson, Validus CEO. “We audit everything from record keeping and documentation to on-site observations and review.”
“Each year we see continual improvement in our practices which in turn helps us be more sustainable. We believe in taking care of the land, and this certification demonstrates our commitment to doing that,” stated Niemeyer.
