Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Jean Preston, 78, of Louisiana, were held on Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Mr. Robert Rue officiated.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Bowling Green. Mrs. Preston passed away on Jan. 14, 2013 at the Maple Grove Lodge in Louisiana.
She was born June 27, 1934 in Louisiana, the daughter of George and Ruby Magdeline Thompson Shade. She married Joseph M. Preston Sept. 26, 1952 at the First Baptist Church in Louisiana. He preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1994.
She is survived by four sons, Joseph Michael Preston and wife Vera of Vernon, Ala., Garry Wayne Preston and wife Cheryl of Hannibal, Kenneth Ray Preston and wife Brenda of Center, and Wesley Eugene Preston of Columbia; one daughter, Rita Fay Baker and husband Wayne of Louisiana; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; three sisters, Martha Preston and husband Tom of Louisiana, Leona Butts of Houston, Texas, and Georgeanna Martin and husband Darrell of Louisiana; three brothers, John Shade of Louisiana, Donald Shade and wife Leah of Louisiana, and Bill Shade and wife Sandy of Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents, George and Ruby Shade; a daughter, Judy Kay Preston Settles; and one grandson, Ronald Elmore Preston.
She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Louisiana. She loved spending time with her family and reading her Bible. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Andy Preston, Kenneth J. Preston, and James Preston.
Active pallbearers were Michael Baker, David Baker, Rodney Baker, Austin Baker, Dylan Preston, and Joshua Vardaman.
