Opal Henderson

Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Marie Henderson, 92, of Clarksville, were held Dec. 28, 2012 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana.  The Rev. Stan Henderson officiated.  Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery near Clarksville.

Mrs. Henderson passed away on Dec. 21, 2012 at the Maple Grove Lodge in Louisiana.

She was born on July 30, 1920 in rural Nebo, Ill. to Robert R. and Clemma Franklin Conner.  She was married to James M. “Sonny” Henderson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2004.

She is survived by eight children, Rose Mary Chamberlain and husband Gary of Bowling Green, James R. “Bobby” Henderson and wife Karen of Pleasant Hill, Ill., Dorothy M. Montang and husband Tom of South Sioux City, Neb., Curtis Henderson of Eolia, Barbara A. Hawkins and husband Rich of Jerseyville, Ill., Dick W. Henderson and wife Michele “Mickie” of Clarksville, Claudie L. Henderson and wife Marie of Louisiana,  and Nancy L. Colbert of Clarksville; two sisters, Hallie Crowder of Warren, Ill. and Wanda Johnson of Lansing, Kan.; one brother, Truman Jake Conner of Pleasant Hill, Ill.; 22 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Richard Henderson on July 10, 1945;  three brothers, Bill Conner, Fred Conner, and Logan Conner, and two great-granddaughters, Chasity Henderson in 1986 and Melissa Henderson in 1988.

She lived her whole life with her husband on the farm near Clarksville.  She attended the Cowboy Church in Bowling Green.  She enjoyed crocheting doilies, baby blankets, and afghans.

Pallbearers were Scott Chamberlain, David Henderson, Travis Henderson, Robbie Schmid, Johnny Henderson, and Adam Henderson.
