Oscar Campbell

Funeral services for Mr. Oscar Eugene Campbell, 80, of Louisiana, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Randall Cone will officiate.

Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Campbell passed away on May 5, 2013 at his home near Louisiana.

He was born on July 3, 1932 in Ashburn to Frank William and Virginia Laura Early Campbell. He married Anna Louise Campbell on Oct. 20, 1952 in Pocahontas, Ark. and she preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 1998.

He is survived by two daughters, Nina Campbell Butler, of Louisiana, and Debra Durk, of Columbia; three sons, Frank William Campbell, of Eolia, Norman Bryan Campbell, of Clarksville, and David Eugene Campbell, of Louisiana; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Carmen Campbell, of Bowling Green; a sister, Ann Dane, of St. Louis; a cousin; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Campbell Smith on Oct. 27, 1996, and a nephew Joseph Schussell.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Yorktown during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed hunting and watching his children and grandchildren playing their sports.

He was like a father as well as grandfather in raising Jennifer’s three children Lorel-ei, Candance, and Dylan Smith. He mostly enjoyed spending time with all of his family and he will be greatly missed.
