Paul S. Johnson, 68, of Bowling Green, passed away Saturday Oct. 27, 2012, at the Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 30 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisiana with Fr. Lou Dorn officiating. Burial will be in the Bowling Green Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post #370 of Louisiana. A Rosary was held at 5 p.m. Monday with a visitation following until 8 p.m. at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
He was born March 19, 1944 in Louisiana, the son of Sidney William and Mary Delores Fitzpatrick Johnson. On January 13, 1973, Paul married Patricia Scherder in Quincy, Ill. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters Jennifer Sick and husband Joe of Frankford, Angela Ayers and husband Justin of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren Joseph, Michael, Anna Maria, Catherine, Elizabeth, Theresa, Andrew, Mary Bridget, Juliana, Ava and Lucca and one sister Dorothy Atkinson of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson Anthony and two brothers Thomas Johnson and Garrett Johnson.
Mr. Johnson lived all of his life near Vera on the farm where he grew up. He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam conflict, where he was a member of the 14th Calvary. Paul was a member of Local 513 in St. Louis, where he worked as an operating engineer for 47 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 370, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisiana. He enjoyed working on the family farm, spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Jones, John Lindsey, Ben Bozarth, Scott Brewster, Steven Brewster and Fred Gamm.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Heart to Heart Community Outreach Food Pantry or the Grandchildren Educational Fund.
