Pirates invade the BGE

The Bowling Green Elementary Third and Fifth graders held their annual Spring Musical on April 11, in the BGMS gym.  This year’s musical was Pirates! by John Jacobson and Roger Emerson.  Mrs. Angela Maier directed the students, who had a great time learning to sing, dance and speak like pirates.

This musical is about a young stowaway (played by Kimberly Niemeyer) who wanted so badly to become a pirate.  The pirate crew, (Izzy Truelove, Aislynn Salinas, Caleigh Grote, Braden Perez, Madeline Norton, Cale Shotton, Kaya Rushin and Austin Komas) however, had no intention of letting this stowaway go with them to the big singing contest that was held every year.  They were sure to win this year, because they had the King of the High C’s (played by Michael Maier) to lead them to victory.  When the King and his Chorus of No Beards (Travis Beavers, Jacob Grummel, Javan Moore, Jessica Kroencke and Daniel Williams) arrive, the stowaway is sent to the brig to sit with the rest of the prisoners (Matthew McDannold, Breanne Kroencke, Hannah Hortness, Kaylee Setzer and Maddy Reynolds) until after choir rehearsal is over, when she would be forced to walk the plank.  Luckily for her, the King gets laryngitis and after hearing her forlorn song from the brig, she is rescued and made a full fledged pirate after agreeing to sing for the contest.
