During Monday night’s meeting of the Bowling Green R-I School Board, a six-page contract between the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and the local school district was approved by members of the school board.
The contract now goes before the Pike County Commission for approval.
According to the calendar of the Pike County Commission, a meeting between the county commission and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matthew Frederickson is scheduled for Thursday at the Pike County Courthouse.
The contract, which details out the specific job duties of the school resource office, is valid from August 1, 2018 to July 31, 2019.
The resource officer is to be “made available to the district, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.”
As was previously reported by the Times, the local school district has budgeted $40,000 that will be paid to the county sheriff’s department.
As noted in the contract, the school district will pay this in monthly installments of $3,333.33. In return, the county will provide the officer with a squad car.
