The Raintree Arts Council has announced its tentative show line-up for the 2019 theatre season, which will mark its first full season back after a multi-year hiatus.

The Raintree Arts Council rejuvenated their theatre troupe, now known as The Changelings, last year when the troupe staged “The Last Romance.”

The 2019 season includes performances of: “The Little Shop of Horrors,” “Handbag Lady,” “Winnie the Pooh,” and “Death of a Salesman.”

The Little Shop of Horrors, which is tentatively scheduled to make its Ludwig Theatre debut in spring 2019, is a horror rock comedy musical. The story follows a somewhat hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. Nevertheless, the story line is filled with romance and music, including several well-known tunes: “Skid Row,” “Somewhere That’s Green,” and “Suddenly, Seymour.”

Auditions for Little Shop of Horrors will be held after January 1. Little Shop of Horrors is expected to hit the stage sometime in spring 2019.

Following the completion of “Little Shop of Horrors,” the next play to be performed is “Handbag Lady,” which was written by Mary Lang Fournier, the coordinator for The Changelings.

According to Fournier, the play focuses on the interactions between a socialite and a bag lady. More specifically, the play delves into the paths that one takes prior to homelessness.

The cast for Handbag Lady have been pre-cast and no auditions will be held. The play will be performed during early Summer 2019.

Also being performed during the summer will be “Winnie The Pooh.”

According to Fournier, this play will feature both an adult and child cast of actors and actresses.

In an email announcing the 2019 line-up, Fournier described the “Winnie the Pooh” production as being “delightful.”

“It is the story of friendship pure and simple,” Fournier said. “It is timeless and we need some good news now.”

Auditions for Winnie the Pooh will be held during the early summer months. Performances are expected to occur in summer 2019.

The final scheduled production for the 2019 theatre season is the 1949 classic written by famed playwright Arthur Miller, “Death of a Salesman.”

This award-winning play will also be making its Ludwig Theatre debut in 2019. It tells the story of Willy Loman, his wife, Linda, and their sons, Biff and Happy.

In her email, Fournier said the upcoming production of “Death of a Salesman” will try to find a fresh angle on such a classic play.

Auditions for this play will get underway in late summer 2019.
