Rev. Weldon W. Forman, 85 of Mexico, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at GLC-Pin Oaks.
Funeral services were held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Ostrom officiating.
Burial follwed at East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico.
Visitation is Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Weldon was born on April 4, 1927 in Lentner, the son of Forrest Glenn and Lula Cassie (Purdy) Forman. He was married to Opal R. Poff on Aug. 25, 1945 in Thompson.
As a minister of the gospel, Weldon was licensed at First Baptist Church in Mexico and ordained at Richland in Fulton. Over the years, he has served in a number of churches including, Carrington in Fulton, Mt. Zion in Molina, Grand Prairie in Auxvasse, Unity in Fulton, Sturgeon Baptist Church, Hopewell in Thompson, Roby Baptist Ch, Reform Baptist Ch., Rising Sun in Hatton, Prairie Lee in Lee’s Summit, Union Baptist in Mexico, Durham Baptist Church, Newark Baptist in Philadelphia, Hester, and Mint Hill in Chamois. He was currently serving as pastor emeritus at Friendship Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Opal, he is survived by four sons, Ronald Forman and Brandie of Higbee, Glenn Forman and Freeda of Farber, Norman Forman and Marty of Fulton, and Todd Forman and Kimberly of Versailles.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a foster daughter, Shirley Evans, a grandson Randall Forman, a great-grandson Cason Hampton, and an infant brother Bobby Eugene Forman.
