Ruth Arlene Brown

Ruth Arlene Brown, age 91, formerly of Stockport, Iowa died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at Eolia.

Ruth was born May 28, 1921 in Fairfield Iowa, the daughter of Vern and Lora Nelson Bradfield.

She lived in the Packwood community in her younger years. The family moved to the Stockport community, where she graduated from the Stockport High School.

She married Paul La Verne on Dec. 30, 1940 at the Christian Church parsonage in Keosauqua Iowa.

A homemaker, Ruth was a lifelong member of the Stockport Christian Church. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Stockport.

Deceased family members include her husband Paul, her parents, one son Kenneth Brown, one granddaughter, two great -great grandsons; one daughter-in-law Darlene Brown, her siblings: Clarice Bradfield, Aura Keller, Emily Lair, Lorna Jean Thompson and Edra Bradfield.

Surviving are  her seven children: Keith ( Carol) Brown of Rochester, N.Y., Kermit Brown of Farmington, Karyl (Donald) Adam. of Eolia,  Karen (Larry) Wells of Des Moines, Kent (Susan) Brown of Des Moines, Kristine (Larry) Cass of Stockport and Kevin ( Marjorie) Brown of Blue springs; 23 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers: 3 brothers: Vergil Bradfield of Batavia, Iowa, Donald Bradfield of Bloomfield, Iowa and Delbert Bradfield of Papillion, Neb. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Heritage Event Center ( formerly  the school gymnasium) with Pastor Jason Mott officiating.

Interment will be in the Spencer Cemetery, Northeast of Stockport.

The family received friends on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Heritage Event Center in Stockport.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Homes of Fairfield and Birmingham, Iowa.
