The Bowling Green R-1 Board of Education gathered Monday evening for a special meeting to discuss new football stadium lights, accept additional resignations, and review applicants for open positions.
Linda Luebrecht, in the absence of Board President Scott Smith, called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. Members Joe Klott and Louise Hunter were also absent from the meeting.
In new business, the present members voted unanimously to approve the district’s bills as of June 16.
The Board also approved the listed resignations of Corey Lovelace, Jim Hawkins, and Tyler Smith.
As the last item of discussion in new business, the board discussed replacing damaged and worn light poles at the Bowling Green High School football stadium. The Board voted to approve a contract with MUSCO to install the new lights at the stadium. They also approved an electrical bid with Perkins Electric for the lights. In total, the project is expected to cost $174,914.54.
With no additional discussion, the Board adjourned to executive session shortly before 7 p.m.
In executive session, the Board voted to hire the following positions for the upcoming school year: Karen Huhn, MS ELA Reading; Courtney Stefani, HS Math; Katie Powell, SPED Aid; Skylar Keyes, MS/HS Band; Ashley Schlender, Elementary Para; Sarah Elliot, BGE Secretary.
