Penny Copelin, BGE/BGMS Assistant Principal
The Bowling Green Elementary teachers came in early this fall for three days of training in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. The program is a leadership model where the BGE will be empowering students to experience leadership in their classrooms and throughout the school and community.
The following are the seven habits that you will hear students and staff talking about and living: (1) Be Proactive: a habit of choice, (2) Begin with the End in Mind: a habit of vision, (3) Put First Things First: a habit of integrity and execution, (4) Think Win-Win: a habit of mutual benefit, (5) Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood: a habit of mutual understanding, (6) Synergize: a habit of creative cooperation, (7) Sharpen the Saw: a habit of renewal. Please talk with your child and have them share what their leadership role is in their classroom and talk to them about the habits that will be part of their education this year.
The BGE would like to thank all the parents and students for their attendance at Meet Your Teacher night, it was a fantastic turn out. The BGE would also like to thank the parents for their input, ideas and continued cooperation in dropping off and picking up their children safely in the new parking lot. It is great to see so much support by students, parents and staff.
The Bowling Green Middle School staff and students will continue to work with The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People this year. The sixth grade will be reading the book by Sean Covey The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and the seventh and eighth grade will continue to work from this book as well. The BGMS grade level classes will each be provided a habit to work on and present those habits to the other classes, promoting leadership. The BGMS will have the same habits that the elementary will be learning and using. We encourage you to use the language and work on the habits at home with your children.
The BGMS fall sports have begun practice and games or contest will soon be approaching, please remember to show your support and follow the Fan Code of Conduct and Sportsmanship while cheering on the Bobcats. As of this week, the BGMS has 19 softball players, 21 cross country members, 18 volleyball players and 33 football players out for the season. Come out and cheer these young athletes on to a victory.
The BGMS would like to thank all the parents and students for their attendance at Open House and 6th grade Orientation, it was a great event.
If you have any questions or concerns in the Elementary or Middle School, please don’t hesitate to call.
