The Bowling Green Bobcat junior varsity softball team has grown tremendously over the course of a season under the leadership of new head coach, Dean Streed.
“I saw vast improvements with their hitting and fielding, which ranged from situational aspects, ground balls, and how we ran the ball down in the outfield,” Streed said last week, pointing out that the JV girls practiced with the varsity team and took varsity reps.
“We made adjustments throughout the year and got better.”
Streed mentioned that the JV girls still have a long way to go to get to where they want to be, but noted that the girls are coachable, fun, and know how to compete with a high amount of focus and still have fun at the same time.
“Going through this year they know what to expect from me in the future and now have a solid base to start with. I look forward to coaching these girls in the future and I hope they make even bigger strides in the off season.”
JV wrapped up their season two weeks ago.
This year’s JV team members included: Lauren Merz, Shelby Grummel, Charlie Grimsley, Taylor Edmond, Gracey Bradford, Destinie Lindsay, Caitlin Parker, Lauren Sparks, Jennifer Miller.
