Pike County Health Department, Home Health and Hospice has added an additional meeting time for it’s breastfeeding support group, “Natural Nursers.”
The group will meet every month on the first Monday of each month at 10 a.m. and the fourth Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the large conference room at the agency.
The support group’s goal is to help mothers breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.
“I am excited that we are adding another day to meet. The addition of a morning option will allow more moms to be involved. One of the key elements to successful breastfeeding is the support that moms get from each other and their community. I am glad that we provide a place that can help women and families reach their breastfeeding goals,” says Leah Diffey, Breastfeeding Peer Counselor.
Natural Nursers is open to anyone in the Pike County area who is pregnant or breastfeeding.
Children are welcome as well as other family members who desire to learn more about breastfeeding and how they can support the breastfeeding women in their lives.
The group offers snacks, discussion, and free information about breastfeeding in a supportive environment.
