This year’s Missouri-Illinois all-star baseball game will have a strong Bowling Green High School — and Eastern Missouri Conference — presence.
Bowling Green High School athletes Alex Chilson, Kobe McPIke, and Stephen Merz have been named to the Missouri team. Also named to this year’s roster was Van-Far’s Josh Hodde.
The Missouri high school team will take on the Illinois High School All-Stars on July 21 in Hannibal. The game will be played at the historic Clemens Field in downtown Hannibal. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.
Last season, Chilson boasted a batting average of .240 and a fielding percentage of 91 percent. Chilson also recorded seven stolen bases this season.
This season for the Bobcats, McPike was a force to be reckoned with as he recorded a .407 batting average in 37 plate appearances, scoring 11 runs and 6 home runs.
Merz turned in an impressive four-year career at BGHS. His career batting average was .245, 22 RBIs, and scoring 45 runs over 51 games. Merz was also a threat to the opposing team from the pitcher’s mound, where he had a career ERA of 3.70 over 41.2 innings.
