Three tight county election races prove importance of voter turnout

Three close victories in the Nov. 6 election proved that every vote counts, particularly in Pike County.

Incumbent Pike County Eastern Commissioner Curt Mitchell, new 45th Circuit Court Presiding Judge Chris Kunza Mennemeyer and incumbent Public Administrator Nina K. Long all won by less than two percent of the vote.

As predicted by County Clerk and elections chief Bob Kirkpatrick, 7,421 of 11,422 registered voters cast their ballots, or 65 percent.
