Thomas H. Evans, 80 of Winchester, Ill., passed away early Tuesday morning June 25, 2013 at his home.
He was born April 29, 1933 in Scott County, the son of the late Willis and Ethel Blake Evans.
He graduated from Winchester High School and made a career of working and managing hog farms. He started with the hog operations in 1959 until his retirement in 2004. He was of the Baptist faith.
He married Patsy Ruth Benton in Winchester, they divorced in 1983. He married Judith Kay Wallace Baze in 1995 in Winchester and she survives at home.
He is also survived by his children and step-children. Rodney (wife Bren) Evans of Belleville, Ill., Sally Evans of Beardstown, Ill., Carol (husband Lyndell) Holmes of Winchester, Ill., Roy Douglas (wife LeaAnn) Evans of Mount Sterling, Ill., Brenda (husband Matt) Hill of Taylorville, Ill., Robert (wife Diana) Evans of Indiana, Tony (wife Lisa) Baze of Alabama, Scott (wife Beth) Baze of Nebraska, Dan Baze of Rushville, Jason (wife Jessica) Baze of Kansas, Stacie Baze of Nebraska, and Michael Evans of Winchester. Also surviving are two sisters, Lois Bean of Liberty and Barb (husband Lowell) Sparks of Winchester.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Richard at birth and Randall in 2005, four brothers, Leo, Joe, Bert and Billy in infancy and two sisters, Marjorie Stevens and Dorothy in infancy.
Tom enjoyed working with hogs and later selling produce in Louisiana. He always said that is what kept him young.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 28 at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial with military honors was in the Winchester City Cemetery.
