Members of the Champ Clark Memorial VFW Post No. 5553 and its auxiliary in Bowling Green recognized the winners of the local and district Patriot Pen essay contest on Monday evening. The winners, who represented Bowling Green and St. Clement schools, were chosen by a panelist of judges on the local and district level. Each student wrote an essay on the topic, “The America I Believe In.”
Pictured above, in the front row, are from left: Kaden Klocke, BGMS Sixth-grade student, who finished second-place in the local competition; Grace Hiles, BGMS sixth-grade student, who finished first-place in the local competition and second-place in the district level competition; Tabitha Betz, BGMS seventh-grade student; who finished in third-place in the local competition; and Grace Twellman, a St. Clement student, who finished first-place in the local and district level competition.
