Icy and snowy roadways led to a semi-truck accident Sunday afternoon.

According to an accident report completed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Robert C. Zeh, 56, of  Eolia was driving southbound on US 61, one-half mile south of MO 54 at Bowling Green when he lost control of his 2012 Peterbuilt, which was hauling a gasoline tanker,  on the ice-covered roadway.

The semi travelled off the left side of the highway and overturned into the median.

Zeh was wearing a safety belt at the time of the accident and was reported as having minor injuries. He was transported to the Lincoln County Medical Center by a private party. The Highway Patrol recorded extensive damages to the semi.

MoDOT and the Highway Patrol stated the accident occured at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. For hours after the accident, both lanes of Highway 61 were closed. The lanes were reopened, according to MoDOT, in the early morning hours Monday.
