We asked, and you commented. Last week, the Bowling Green Times asked its Facebook followers what they think about the rights given to stars of “reality TV”. Here are some of your answers…

“Phil Robertson, star of the popular ‘Duck Dynasty’ series, recently claimed the show’s producers have made changes to the show while editing and requested different behavior from its stars. In an interview with Sports Spectrum, Robertson said the producers have added fake ‘bleeps’ to suggest the stars are using profanity, when he says they aren’t. The Robertson family patriarch also claimed the producers have requested the family stop using ‘in Jesus’ name” when they pray, ‘because it might offend Muslims.’

So what do you think, Bowling Green? Should producers of ‘reality TV’ be able to modify the show to skew the truth or change the actions of its subjects as to not offend anyone? Is this going over-board?”

Your Answers*:

“When do the Christians get to be offended by the need to tiptoe around Muslims in a Christian value founded country??? Seems that we can’t ever be offended or we are some sort of racist or bigot but now the Muslims, well one would hate to offend them wouldn’t we?” – Heather York Betts

“Heres what I think. It should be just the way it started from day one. Who cares if it ‘offends’ Muslims or not? This is America! Lets keep it that way!” – Faith Curry

“They are one of the highest rated shows on tv. That tells me that a lot of people aren’t offended.” – Christina Harshman

“The Robertsons have the right to be who they are and pray to god as they do. These rights are afforded to them via the constitution, Such rights have also been afforded to muslims so i say a&e can get over themselves and quit trying to change people for the ratings!” – Adam Green

“Everybody needs More Jesus ! I Respect Him alot for Sticking up for his Values, Its crazy that they are always trying to take that away when our Country was Founded Under GOD” – Ronnie Martin

“I don’t think they set out to please anyone in the first place. I think they should just be allowed to continue being who they are, and for those who don’t like it, don’t watch. This is still America, correct? Home of the free? Let’s start acting that way.” – Angel Burns Shade

“Keep it they way the Robertson’s made it! They have top ratings & show what is important in life! No Added ‘bleeps’ to make them who they are not!” – Darla Chandler

“They were good enough in the beginning to get the show and from what I understand this is a country on freedom of religion & speech well apparently they are doing that so I think they ought to leave it alone” – Betty S. Myers

“Keep the show the same. Bleeps is just wrong. Seriously, we do not need cussing or even pretend cussing. In fact, if that starts then they lost our families viewership.” – Lisa Ann Colbert

“the old saying if you don’t like DON”T WATCH!” – Robin Stephenson-Talley
